THE VOLUNTEER'S MISSION

The world needs help.
I can't help the whole world, but maybe a little corner.
I can't help the whole corner, maybe just a little area.
I can't help the big area, but maybe one person.

When will I help this person?
I can't help him all the time, maybe just a few months.
I can't help a few months, maybe just a few weeks.
I can't help a few weeks, but maybe a few hours each week.

I can't give him money or material things,
I can't give him a palace or gold.
I can't even give him a magic carpet or jewels.
I can give of my most precious, my time.

I can help one person in some way.
I can share some of the talents I have acquired.
I can give him a few hours of my time each week.
I can give him an ear, and compassion.
I can help, I will help, and I will probably reap more than I sow.

I AM A VOLUNTEER

Tallahassee needs help.
I can't help the whole city, but maybe an area.
I can’t help the whole area, but maybe one part.
I can’t help the whole part, but maybe even one group.

When will I be able to help this group?
I can’t help them every day of all weeks.
I can't help all days or all nights.
But maybe a few hours each week.

I can't give them large donations of money or goods.
I can't give them new technological equipment.
I can’t give them safe passage out of harms way.
But maybe some hours, my smiles, and my caring.

I can help one Department in some way each week.
I can share my talents and experience.
I can give my time for the safety of the community.
I can care, and be willing.
I can help, I will help, and it will be my heart that smiles.
